Pretending

by Shelby Baxter   Apr 11, 2008

I fake a happy face,
so you don't see me cry.
I wipe the black smudges away,
so there are no signs of my pain.
Hide my wrist,
so you don't see the memoirs.
From the heartache you gave me.
I blank my mind of the memories,
so they don't torture me with what use to be.
I have to make you see that I am okay,
make you realize that I don't need you.
But the truth is,
you mean everything to me.
Its like living with out oxygen.
It couldn't happen.
And there is no way
I could live with out you.
