One Way

by Jenna   Apr 15, 2008

On this path I walk alone,
No one to turn to, no place to call home.

I see nothing but the pavement ahead,
The harsh sun beats down, scorching the black top on which my feet tread.

Walk a mile in my shoes? But I have nun for you to wear,
Not that you would even try them on to care.

This mess that I call my mind,
Leaves no other room, but the loneliness to ever find.

Everything centered on that sign along my path,
The one that says, There is no turning back!

One-way road on which I walk,
No one here for me to ever want to talk.

Not even my shadow is shown on the ground,
The sun stays at that same place where nun is ever found.

I think to myself, What a horrible place,
But no sound of my thoughts will ever be traced

Maybe elsewhere there is something better,
A place where there are other thoughts and different weather.

One-way road and my soul stays on track,
That sign forever mocking me; There is no turning back!
