To you my love I ask

by lauren   Apr 17, 2008

To you my love I ask, what it is that I lack,
The one thing that you need, to want to get us back?

For my smile finds you delight each and every day,
You tell me how you hope that it never fades away.

It has none to do with talking as I know we go for hours
Others strain to comprehend a conversation that is ours

Underwater, you say, I would talk if I could,
With a grin on your face, this too you understood.

Too few a joke made aloud is a problem I don't face,
Witty punch lines of mine though, have often been misplaced

At my expense you will laugh, as in turn I join in,
All this time, fixed on your eyes, is where mine have been.

Comparing Books, Music, Movies, is a pass time that we share
Be it Seinfeld, Uni or the News, all opinions we're aware.

Comfortable surroundings at your house I can enjoy,
Parent's of the kindest hearts, welcome feelings they employ.

I cannot think it be my face or body you require
To improve, when on me your eyes fall, always with desire.

Revealed to me by you have been those secret sides within,
Those golden tender moments, another piece of you I win.

It cannot be a lack of trust that pulls you further away,
You know too well, our bond of love I could never disobey.

Perhaps it be my tears that I shed from time to time,
When I find that I am doubting your feelings to match mine,
When I see a distance growing in between us forms a line,
When of our future and our plans you no longer intertwine,

So to you my love I ask, what it is I don't possess,
That quality you seek, for which, your heart you will invest.
