Living Again

by Lisa A Kessler   Apr 23, 2008

My heart had become nothing but a shattered piece of glass, with the jagged edges stabbing into my soul with each beat, reminding me of my latest failure.

Instead of seeing the vibrant colors of the approaching Spring, I saw only gray.
Rain and clouds had replaced even the slightest rays of sun.

I had given up on the world, no longer wanting to be a part of it.
The recent occurrences in my life had left me without faith, love, or hope.

I was tired!
Much too tired to try again!

Then, just as suddenly as I had entered the darkness,a light appeared from nowhere.
From this light, a strong hand reach out for me.

The hand belonged to you.
Soon, the clouds disappeared, and the sun's rays replaced the grayness.

I, once again, can appreciate the world's beautiful people.
The ones, like you, that keep alive laughter, hope, and love.

You gave me a wonderful gift, and that gift was you.
I would like to thank you for choosing to share yourself with me.

Though no one person may be able to change the world, I want you to know that, at least in one life,
you made a significant difference.
