Naptime

by Dacey Flame   Apr 27, 2008

Bum to tummy,

Legs meshed together, my arms around you,

Our hands link together.

I feel you grow tired and turn to the ceiling.

Your eyelids fall and your emotion smooths.

I'm tempted. I run my fingers along your cheek.

So, so soft, I caress your face in steady motion.

I feel you leaving me, but it's alright.

I'll look after your body while you're away.

Your breathing deepens and evens out.

Twitch. You twitch. Again, and then again.

I nervously cling to you, still clutching one hand.

I try to line my breathing with your own.

I attempt to sleep as well, to get lost.

But I can't shake the wonder of your dreams.

Do they lead you to twitch and turn about?

I won't leave you alone, I won't ever

In case you need me when you wake.

I'll be right here tangled to you,

Bum to tummy.
