Bruises

by Hali Cararnza   Apr 27, 2008

They run up and down my leg
Some even on my arm
They make me feel dead
They make feel torn
Every time we fought
I always got hit
To the floor I dropped
And then he kicked
My sides are aching
But no one can know
Because then he'll slap me
And pound me like dough
I try to run
But he's to strong
And he asks "Hun,"
"Why did you run?"
Before I could answer
He takes a swing
I run to the table for cover
But he's just to fast for me
When it's finally over
He says he's sorry
He holds me close
And says don't worry
Years later
It still happens
But now I'm braver
And can now fight him

It's painful and tragic... shouldn't happen this way. Anyways... it's a nice poem.

If this is true, I'm am so sorry! No one should be treated like that! Great poem though... good emotion and phrasing. Nice gentle flow. You wrote it so well that its like a story and I know exactly what happened. Good images! I wouls make this poem into stanzas, but thts just me. Keep up the good work, I'll be anxious to read it. 5/5
