The Last Dance (Part 1)

by Kim   Apr 28, 2008

The moonlit sky upon our heads,
Beating down in a beam of golden hope,
The stars above twinkling happy,
As if joined by a silver rope.

You stood with your arms by your sides,
Your posture so great and free,
You smiled at me, your cheeky smile,
The one that would always be.

The music played yet drifted away,
Just with one slight look into your eyes,
You held me close and whispered gently,
'I've never been good at goodbye's.'

We danced and laughed, the night a blur,
But one thing I remember you say,
Beyond the sadness and the tears, you said,
'I'll be back one day.'

Now words drift out to sea,
And each painful memory is all that I can feel,
And the only way it will get any better,
Is if you'd come back and help me heal.

I no now but before I could not see,
As I was in love, in a trance,
That was our last moment together,
That was in fact, the last dance.
