No! Do better!

by ScarredToTheBone   Apr 28, 2008

I told you I wanted to be a teacher,
Help others learn as I have done,
But you replied, NO!
You must be a leader!
Politician? Sure

I came to you and said
I want to be a writer!
No more tears, only laughter,
But you said, NO!
You must be a doctor!

I told you I wanted to be a vet,
Aid the lives of those helpless pets,
You turned to me and gasped,
NO! you screamed!
You must be a lawyer!
Attorney? Sure

I told you I wanted to be an anchor,
Inform the people of their sorrows,
I wanted to help them with their grief!
But you spat NO!
You must make something of yourself!

I will not have a daughter
Who is just a bottom-feeder!
You must make a billion dollars!
Until I realized something else,
I thought and thought of what to ask,

What could make him proud of me?
Enough! I thought,
It is good enough for me!
His opinion doesn't matter!

Nothing makes him proud of you,
but that's OK!
He'll be sorry,
When my name is up in lights!
I'll forget I had a father!

One who yelled,
Made my life a living Hell!
I'll make him proud,
And when he's dead,
I laugh and say,
Don't you wish you had known me!!!!

***This poem isn't very good, but I just had a huge blow-out with my dad over "careers" and stuff, so I just put something out here!
