Can't soar with broken wings

by she   Apr 29, 2008

You all told me I could fly,
If I really really tried
Well, I flapped my wings,
But nothing happened,
I just stood in place,
Did you lie to me,
What happened,
why isn't it working!
Then I saw a broken wing, sliced, bruised, and torn,
So VERY FAR beyond repair.
Whose wings are these,
Are they really mine?
So here I stand,
Broken and bleeding,
Wishing I could soar in the sky,
Then you tell me,
All that's been broken can be fixed again,
So I stitch bandage, sew, and heal
But still I stand,
Flapping my ugly scarred wings covered in stitches Looking onto the beautiful sky
Forever WISHING I could fly.

Some days, i feel like the wings i allegedly have aren't mine..just somebody's hopes put on my back. and they're awfully heavy.

this poem is amazing, monique. great job.
