Our Hill

by ilikepurple222   Apr 30, 2008

I saw you two the other day on the hill.
Our hill.
The one where we'd sit and look up at the stars counting them one by one.
The place where we used to talk about what we wanted out of life.
Maybe what you told me that day was true.
Or maybe you were just playing a game and reeling me along.
Guess i'll never know.

I saw you two on the hill.
Sitting where we sat.
Maybe talking about the same things we used to.
Staring at the grass for a moment,
then looking into my eyes,
you whispered,
"You make me like you even more each day."
You probably told her the same.
Guess i'll never know.

You sit there all smug in your seat each day
thinking you got the best of me.
You thought you've won her now.
To be perfectly honest.
I lost a lot that day;
The day you said goodbye.
But I gained even more.
Now I can look at that hill.
Our hill.
And not feel a thing.

I really liked this poem. I could picture every word of it as a picture in my mind. It made me feel sad, angry and happy at the same time. Good work keep it up.
