She's My Friend Too...

by Echelon Eric   May 1, 2008

A friend of mine so precious to me
One whom I can talk and cry to
So far away
I keep that bond dear
Protected in the locked chest in my heart
The secret that no one will find
The chest that they won't even look for
Simply because they just can't see it

They don't see me
I don't exist
They see him
I speak of her and they speak of him
They see them
They talk about them
They cannot mention one without bringing up the other

I stand there listening with sadness and frustration
Knowing that these people can't see the bond that I'm on one end of
They only see the other one
The one I'm not a part of
He speaks of her, they speak of him and her
They never speak of me, me and her

"She's my friend too..." I hold back
Using sarcasm and indifference
To cloud my insignificance
Close friends for awhile now?
They seem surprised
They just never took the time
Nobody recognizes me, my bond

They go to him
For anything about her
Always walking right past me
Talking to him without giving me a look
"She's my friend too..." I nudge in
They reply Who are you

For him, they see everything
For me, nobody recognizes me
Nobody cares
Nobody remembers
Nobody knew
I guess it isn't meant to be known
I'll keep it to myself
One of my treasures
My little secret that
She's my friend too
