Broken Ballet Slippers

by meganmarie   May 2, 2008

Broken ballet slippers
stained in blood
scars that line your dainty wrists
tears that drown you shallow breaths
savouring every sound of his voice
crashing to the floor
slipping away
it's all she has to keep from falling
slowly sinking through your grasp
she feels him all around her
but she cannot touch him
shattering glass and piercing hearts
rip from the roots
so all the pain can leave
his dying scream piercing through her veins
she's the reason he's dead
and she's still alive
he's on her finger tips
on her icy lips
she can't escape it
he's all around her
roses are wilting
butterflies crashing
as she runs past in decay
falling apart at the seams
all that's left are her broken ballet slippers
stained in blood
with butterflies decaying
she could never escape
