Friends Again (Soda)

by XSugarSexSuicideX   May 2, 2008

From the beginning
Friends until the end
Fun times, no lies
Parties and movies
Video games and music
Sitting on a broken couch
And a carpet that
We're sure has
Absorbed more soda
Than we have
Dusty basements and
Boxes of pizza
All the pillars that
We balanced our
Friendship on
Now in the middle
Losing each other
Parties with less and less
People and pizza
Jokes not as funny
And the soda starts
To evaporate
People start to fight
And disagree and
Don't listen anymore
Soon at the end
Parties end completely
They throw out the couch
And get new carpets
And stop buying soda
And watch funny movies
Instead of bloody horror
And nobody fights
Because nobody speaks
Finally, one says hi
The other responds
Then they start to talk
More are coming
To join in on the joke
And a question pops up
Come over after school?
And video games start
We break the new couch
And spill more soda than ever
Pizza eaten by the box
And we're friends again

Well, you know I read all your poems, and you know they're all pretty darn good, but I have to say that this one is exceptional. I love the references to the soda as an indicator of the state of the friendship.
