Failed you

by coverd in darkness   May 4, 2008

She was fighting with her boy, needed someone to talk to, turned to him again thinking things had become normal, he jumped to her rescue wanted to be her savior, insisted on taking her out to dinner.

Her voice trembled on the phone, he knew something wasn't right, he got there told her let me hold you, open up your mind to me, let me understand your tears, don't bottle it up for i don't want to see you slip again.

She couldn't look him in the eye, admit it was too late, expecting pure innocence she thought she was safe, from him seeing the cuts and the scars, that talking to him would be enough.

His arms held her as she told about everything, he blamed himself for hurting her back then, for if that had never happened he would of still been there, she would of had someone when she needed a shoulder, so bad that loneliness was slowly killing her, he sighs if only we could go back.

Night progresses old habits between them repeat, he sees the cuts the broken promises, i tear rolls from his eye, i have failed you for i shouldn't of let this happen, she says your just my ex now though here we find ourselves again, taking things too far, getting deeper again.

Hours pass by nothing changes, he holds her close kissing her slowly, for now his seen the hurt he can't leave her, the lights go down, in his arms she crys as they fall into a deep sleep not as two people but as one like they once had.
