Not your everyday girl.

by EyesOfTheInsane   May 6, 2008

She walks through the day
She laughs she runs, jumps, she skips
She smiles and acts like everythings okay
She gets home and she sees the whips

She can see the horrid look in her fathers eyes
He beats her to the ground and leaves her to cry
She has bruises, and everyday a little more of her soul dies
She asks herself "why is dad so mad... why?"

She lies on her bed and she can hear him
She can hear him coming up the stairs
She tries to hide, but he finds her in a light so dim
He pulls her by her hair and she doesn't scream, he never cares

Again shes beaten and yelled at
This time shes not breathing anymore
And for once it was by her side he sat
He cried and thought... Then he was no more.

Good poem. Being beaten by your parents isn't good. But you created that feeling beautifully out on this poem.
    "She walks through the day
She laughs she runs, jumps, she skips
She smiles and acts like everythings okay
She gets home and she sees the whips"

I loved how you made a contrast with playing outside and rhymed it by the time she gets home she gets whipped.

"She has bruises, and everyday a little more of her soul dies
She asks herself "why is dad so mad... why?"

This part is amazing, showing how young and unsure most children are. With each hit they slowly die unsure of why.

"This time shes not breathing anymore
And for once it was by her side he sat
He cried and thought... Then he was no more. "

You don't see this in many poems. Normally it just ends with them getting beaten, not with the father feeling bad about what he did. Great write I enjoyed reading this. You could check out and comment some of my poetry. ;)
