Some time ago I made a mistake
it nearly took me from this world
it felt right, and I let go
but into doubt my mind was hurled.

I spent so long alone
trying to work out who I'd become
that even my reflection
came back to me as numb

Then by chance I met him
a man my love I'd lend
a truly amazing person
the rules for him I'd bend

He listened to my story
and saw the scars I wear
my pain and fear on display
insecurities stripped bare

His touch can sooth my sharpest mood
his kiss can calm my soul
a smile makes my knees go weak
and "I Love You" makes me whole
