5 minutes longer

They met on a cold day in February
cuddled on a bench and numb toes
he turned to the girl and said
"its getting late its a long walk home i should go "
" please just stay 5 minutes longer"

time past they fell in love
at the bus stop they sat in summer
" heres ya bus , there will be a another soon i think "
" OK we'll wait just 5 minutes longer "

first night of romance
a kiss good night
" sweet dreams my love "
" stay up and hold me five minutes longer "

another late night as he walks her home
at the door he kisses her goodbye
" you get some rest you ! "
" i will if you stay just 5 minutes longer"

he waved good bye and crossed over the street
he failed to see the traffic
" how could this happen , this cant be real,
you just hold on 5 minutes longer"

an ambulance came not a minute to soon
as he saw a tear in her eye, he smiled and said
" don't worry love Ive done this a million times before,
i can hold on just 5 minutes longer.

she knew it was his final goodbye
it was 3.34 he died 3.39
" i love you for eternity "
" i love you eternity and 5 minutes longer "

home that night numb from her pain , well be together forever
then she whispered to her self as she dragged the blade
" here i come just you wait 5 minutes longer "
