My Hatred

by Brad Quammen   May 7, 2008

Is there anybody up there?
Does anybody care?
Why must people turn their backs
from a lonely child's stare

Is there anyone around you
Who you could call a friend
Would they be there for you through thick or thin
or would they desert you in the end?

Anymore you can not tell
who's a friend or foe
So always you must put up your guard
to prevent betrayal,
from which your "friend" may bestow

There is no longer any honor among-st the human race
for if you do a respectful deed,
it gets thrown back in your face

You can disregard my hatred,
though I have many of reason
for all mankind makes me sick
season after season
