Lost friend (a poem for my mother)

by DilemazAngel   May 7, 2008

SHE DOESN'T WANT TO FEEL THIS SADNESS.

SHE DOESN'T WANT TO FEEL THIS ANGER.

THERES TIMES SHE GETS OUT OF CHARACTER,

SHOCKING TO SEE SOMEONE U KNEW, A TOTAL STRANGER.

YOU LOVE HER FOR THE PERSON SHE IS,

TO YOU, THERES NO FLAW,

SO WHY DOES SHE REACT IN SUCH AN AWFUL MANNER.

I KNOW U TRY DESPERATELY TO UNDERSTAND HER.

YOUR CHEST ACHES WITH THOSE WORDS COLD AS ICE,

YOU LOOK IN HER EYES, AND HAVE TO LOOK TWICE.

WHERE DID SHE GO? WHO'S THIS IN HER PLACE,

HOW CAN SHE CONTINUE TO HURT ME,

WITH TEARS STREAMING DOWN MY FACE.

YOU FEEL YOU'VE DONE WRONG,

YOU TRY TO FIX THE UN FIXABLE.

IF ONLY U KNEW, IT WASN'T U.

LIFE'S MADE HER NOT CARE AT ALL.

YOU FEEL ALONE IN THIS WORLD, NEEDING A FRIEND.

YOU OFTEN ASK URSELF WHY WHEN U NEED HER,

SHE CONTINUES TO IGNORE U OR YELL AT U AGAIN.

MEMORIES BRING TEARS WHEN YOU THINK BACK THROUGH THE YEARS,

SO MANY GOOD TIMES WITH AN EVEN BALANCE OF BAD,

BUT SHE LOVED YOU DEARLY, SO U STILL REMAINED GLAD.

NOW U ASK YOURSELF WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL OF THAT.

SHE ALWAYS WAS THERE FOR YOU,

YOUR COMFORT TO SURVIVE,

NOW SHES GONE AWAY,

YOU WONDER IF SHE MAY STILL BE ALIVE.

YOU FIND IT HARD TO BREATHE,

THE WALLS SEEM TO CLOSE IN,

YOUR WORLD IS IN A SPIN,

BEGGING THE LORD TO BRING BACK YOUR FRIEND.

...SO LONELY YOU'VE BEEN.

SEEMS LIKE SHES BEEN GONE FOR EVER,

BUT SHE LIVES NEXT DOOR,

YOU CRY WITH FAITH,

THE PERSON U VISIT WILL BE THAT GIRL FROM BEFORE.

SHE SLEEP WALKS, AND SHE SLEEP TALKS,

LIKE A ZOMBIE FROM DAY TO DAY.

EMOTIONLESS AND MEAN YOU CAN SEE,

DISAPPOINTMENT FILLS YOU IMMEDIATELY.

YOU GO TO BED AT NIGHT,

SO LONELY AND AFRAID,

A TEAR OF HOPE FORMS,

TOMORROWS A NEW DAY...

SHE MAY BE HOME TO STAY.
