Final Days

by Jes Miller   May 9, 2008

She was the most beautiful girl in town,
She had beautiful olive skin,
Bright clear green sparkling eyes,
And in love with who she thought was the most breath taking guy on Earth.

He was every girls fantasized dream guy,
Dark tan muscular body,
Blue crystal eyes like the Caribbean Sea,
And love for her like the rose holds its color.

They both shared an indestructible love for each other,
Knowing it each time they looked into each others eyes,
Everyone knew too,
Just by the way they acted towards each other walking down the streets.

But their love was too good to be true,
He noticed her being more tired,
Not to mention the bruises that appeared out of nowhere,
So he convinced her to see the doctors,
Knowing herself that deep down the news was not going to be good.

After her examination,
The doctor came in with a look in her eyes,
Telling her what she feared before walking in,
Then softly told her the news,
For she only had a six months to live,
She squeezed her loves hand as a waterfall fell from her eyes.

He loved her too much to just sit by her side everyday,
Watching her live each day in fear,
Not knowing when the day would come,
And he knew deep down what he wanted to do.
So as she was sound asleep up in the bed,
He was outside planting flowers in the middle of the lawn.

The next morning he lifted her up and carried her outside,
He put her down facing him and told her to close her eyes,
She refused at first but she could tell in his eyes,
It was something he knew would make her happier than ever,
He turned her around and told her to open her eyes,
She cried while reading will you marry me spelled out in flowers.

When she turned back around towards him,
He was already down on one knee holding a ring,
In between the tears that fell from her eyes,
She told him yes,
Forgetting all about the short life she only had to live.

Two days later,
They went on a picnic,
They placed a blanket in the middle of the meadow,
The meadow filled with wild flowered going all around,
As they ate and laughed,
They planed out their wedding.

They both got over whelmed,
So they forgot about the future,
And enjoyed the warmth they both felt from their hearts,
Knowing they would not be able to do this forever.
Still holding each other tight,
They laid down in the meadow,
Staring above into the endless sky.

He told her he loved her more than anything in the world,
And she returned him with a smile,
She leaned in towards his ear and whispered faintly love you right back,
Just as she ended her last word,
Her grip loosened around his body.

He sat up staring at her with tear filled eyes,
For her time came sooner then he thought,
But as he cried,
Holding her close to his heart,
He realized he made her final days happy,
Knowing that she wanted to be with him until death took it away.

please let me know what you think....
