A Pretty Face

by Jes Miller   Aug 8, 2008

When you look at me
You may just see a pretty face
With blue eyes and blond hair
A pretty girl who is sweet
Just by seeing that brightly shown smile
But that is all just by the look,

When you look at me
You will see a hunter
A pretty face who enjoys the outdoors
And not afraid to get my hands a little dirty gutting out a deer
Or to get a little mud under my nails
Hooking a worm onto my hook
To enjoy a relaxing evening by the stream fishing

When you look at me
You will see me in the stands
A pretty face who is not jumping and cheering
And being a distraction from a good game of football
Or to be on the cheerleading squad to get noticed by guys
But rather being just another pretty face in the crowd

When you look at me
You will see a beach babe
A pretty face who lies on her beach towel
Soaking up the rays from the sun beating down on me
A pretty face who will grab her board and head for the water
Standing at the crest of the wave
And when its about to curl
Jump onto of her board and glide on top of the wave onto the shore

When you look at me
You will see me on the bleachers
A pretty face watching a good rodeo of bull riding
Watching the men perform their skills
who hears engines roaring from the dirt bikes
With my eyes growing wide when there is a good wreck
who sits there and waits for the black smoke to come out of the stacks
Waiting to see how far the big wheels can pull the shed

When you look at me
You will see a student
A pretty face who walks the hallways
Searching for the room of her class
Wishing that there could be someplace else that I could be
But also knowing
That school will open so many new doors for me

When you look at me
You will see a sister
A pretty face who has eyes looking at her every move
Knowing my brothers are looking up to me
And because I know that
I have to take on my role of being a sister
And helping them through the rough times
Or even to just be there when they need me
For that is what my parents and other sister did to me

When you look at me
You will see a friend
A pretty face who is a true friend
One that will be there for my friends
Through the think and thin
Through the tears and laughs
One that is signed up for a lifetime friend
For true friends stick together
Until the very end

When you look at me
You will see a girlfriend
A pretty face who is a faithful girlfriend
who has been for almost two years now
And will continue too
For as long as my heart is still yours
A faithful girlfriend who will be there through the tears
Join the sound of your laughter
Share each and every thought with you
And to stand by your side with a heart full of love for you

When you look at me
You will see a sixteen year old girl
A pretty face who you can say is an all around American girl
One that tell you my thoughts
Loud and clear if I have to
Just so my voice is heard

One that will stand my ground
For I wont let anyone walk over me
Just for the other person to think that I am some girl they can take control over

One that will chase after her dreams
To try and try again
Until the day comes that the dream comes true
And even then
If the dream is alive
I will continue to let it live
For if I work hard for it to come true
I wont let it disappear too quickly

For this is who I am
And I wont change for someone to like me
For that would be acting
And I am not no artist
I am a girl
Who is who she is
Like what see
And see what you like
If you do not like me for who I am
Just walk away
Cause I wont change for you
I am who I am
Take it
Or leave it

**Be who you are....and know who you are...for each of us has a little something special in us....thats what makes us all so different, but dont change for someone to notice...be who you are**
