Too old and broken

by Kendall   May 11, 2008

You're hanging by a noose of bad letters
all the wrong consonants
one by one,
i watched the x's cross out the life from your eyes
and we were victims of the hangman thief.
bereft of all my vowels
and the mere influence of intuition
limb by limb
you became one with the waiting rope
my warnings came and went so vast and vacant
that the universe itself couldn't touch this room
immortality proved unreachable for all we'd hoped for
