Butterfly Kisses And Angel Wings

by Amy   May 15, 2008

Butterfly kisses pressed to her cheek.
Calloused hands running over her pregnant belly.
Smiles are shared as the two share their love.
Their love and happiness should last for ever.
But seize the day,
for no one knows when their time is up.

The pattering of footsteps nears the front door.
A loud banging jolts the pair from each other,
causing them to jump.
Like a thief in the night,
he treads to the door of doom.

Upon opening,
his mates smile and cheer.
They whisper plans in his ears,
causing a grin to appear.
Willingly he says goodbye to her.
Unwillingly she lets him go.

Masks the colour of death cover their faces.
A weapon is carried by each of them.
They don't have much time.
They must make it quick.

BANG!
SMASH!
These are the sounds heard at the crime.
The tires screeching as they get away.
All but him.

Laughs and whistles come from the cells as he gets checked.
They look forward to him spending the night.
The laughter echoes through the cold dark dungeon.
He cannot sleep.
He cannot keep a clear mind.
He cannot cry.

All he can do is think about the time he has lost.
It feels empty.
And cold.
A visible shiver runs up and down his back.

The man walks from his slumberless night.
His wrists bound in heavy regret.
His eyes brighten as he sees her.
But soon,
they shall be filled with tears again.

Screams and yells fill as she accuses.
He tried to calm her.
Not for him.
But for her.
For the baby.

She storms off,
tears dripping down like sharp razorblades.
Climbing into her car she screams.
Tears pour down her face,
harder than ever before.
Blinded by her tears,
she continues to drive.
One moment to wipe away her tears changes everything forever.

Family and friends of the two gather around the coffin.
Some are crying.
Some are saddened.
Some are joyous that another beautiful angel has entered heaven.
Many tears fall that day.

A loud cry is heard from a cell.
Sobs soon follow.
Bitter tears fall down his face.
Tears of regret.
Of sadness.
Of loss.
He doesn't want to go on anymore.
Not at all.
Not ever.

After serving his time,
he leaves.
Learning he has something special,
something that makes his life worth living.
A young boy greets him with his friend at the door.
Hugs are exchanged and he meets his son.
The only one that survived that night.

He holds the boy,
promising to never let him go.
Promising to protect and hold him.
Promising to tell of all the butterfly kisses he shared with his mother.
His mother who now has angel wings and watches from above.

I based this loosely on the video clip "Seize The Day" by Avenged Sevenfold. It's one of my favourite songs and video clips ever. Check it out, it's so beautiful and so amazing =]
