Out of Focus

by Unrequited   May 15, 2008

I watched it all
as you fell down
in a crash into the lake
and I listened as you wept
held your broken heart and felt it bleed-
it was not meant to be.

now that you're nothing
what will you do?
sailing on a star beneath this moon
where you can rest your head
and close your eyes
in a sea of wonders
dying and unclear
you face the facts
that love is gone
and you are lost in this world-
crumbling in a crash
into the glittered lake

and so it's over
and so you've lost my hand
the bitter taste will paint your tongue
and leave you soaked in tears
inside your water grave.
but it's not my wish
not the vision that I dreamed
wailing in the muted air-
but so it is
and there you are...
and I'll listen as you weep,
out of focus in a memory.

so take your time
to wipe your eyes
once they're dry
I'll say goodbye
it'll be too late
to start again and love again
and feel your heart turn whole
but a star will take you sailing
into a sea that leaves you cold
and screaming for one last breath...

now that you're nothing
what will you do?
searching for answers never found
and reaching for love that's not around
I'm out of focus in your eyes
waving goodbye
I'll hold your heart, in mourning.

you face the facts
that love is gone
and so are you
and everything is distant in your eyes
all has crumbled
in a crash into the lake...
but I still listen,
as your cries call out to me,
out of focus in a memory.
