Leaving for the Navy Soon

I'm leaving for the navy soon
I'm as anxious as can be
I do what I can to prepare
I've no idea what's in store for me

I saw a sparkle in your eye
And then I turned away, afraid,
that maybe in a different time
love would have been okay

I deem it barren to pursue such a thing
For soon I'll be forced to go away
And if by chance we fell in love
Farewell would just bring pain

But putting all of that aside
And thinking with my heart
It would be nice if you and I
Could forget it all and start

And when I leave it won't be hard
We'll smile and wave goodbye
Distance can't keep lovers apart
Nor can 8 years of time

Enough with all the mushy dreams
Forget it. Just stay friends
It's childish to think that maybe she
Could stay with me 'till the end

    I can relate to this 100%, i feel in love with this guy and the next month he left to go ot the navy i miss him so much .. i think about him all the time

    I really liked piece. It went through so many different emotions; anxiety for leaving, fear in starting a relationship, potential pain, kind of wanting a relationship after all and thinking it could maybe work out, and then dropping everything because she would never wait.

    Don't live your life overanalyzing everything. You never know what decisions could have been the best decisions of your life in the end, so go with what your heart says. If you two were truly meant to be, then you will be.

    This was such a good poem. && also i relate like a 100 percent. i leave for the navy in october and its like anyone i come across there really holds no point in pursuing anything. Good luck! 5/5
