The boy i let go

by cheryl   May 19, 2008

Love lost in all confusion,
being so afraid of affection,
we had to depart,
not know we were breaking one another's heart.
beating in time with the sound of this lifeless rain.
closing our eyes swelled up with pain,
we said goodbye.

i waited as you walked away,
to let these tear show my blame
for falling in love with one i could never keep.
i shouldn't have let you go i should have learned to speak.
you hesitated for a minute were you waiting for me to call your named,
we let pride take over and now we're both ashamed.
my crime was lame and such,
for caring about a boy who didn't care about me much.

i saw you just the other day.
you smiled as you held her hand and looked away.
you seemed happy but lost at the same time.
god i hope she don't pride,
so she can hold you like i never could.
i hope she can read you like a book,
cause she is a lucky girl and she will never know.
the boy i lost that night,
the boy i let go.
