You're Something Essential

by Soulful Ensemble   May 28, 2008

You're something essential
Like the breathing air.
Too many days since you've been gone
And I miss the golden hair.

You're something essential
Like the morning breaths
Spreading through my lungs, caressing
The life I wouldn't bet.

You're something essential
Like sleep's forgetfulness
When I rise in the morning
And forget every sadness.

You're something essential
Like the sense of touch
When something becomes special
And I need to feel it's clutch.

You're something essential
So when you're not around
I feel so consequential
And my heart isn't found.

You're something essential
Like kisses from the stars
That swallow up depression
Sending it to Mars.

You're something essential
Like the sound of birds coming in line
That sing at every station
When the train arrives in good time,
Fluttering through space's lonely grime
Until the lost are found to be just fine.

You're something essential
Like peace in violent times
To cool down the population
And make them sing in rhymes.

You're something essential
I hope to see you soon
Beneath the silver spoon
In the special space next to the moon
Here in the month of June
Bouncing from dune to dune
Singing that lovely tune
Maybe in the afternoon
With lily pads that swoon
From water-like balloons
To wrapped around monsoons
Where life goes on without death
And I'm running out of breath.
