To William

by x Mo x   May 28, 2008

Through the darkest nights,
When demons rest in my soul.
You're always there to talk me back,
Back to where you know I'm whole.

Now broken from his one mistake,
You hold each piece with tender care.
I watch you treat the shards sweetly,
Making them seem precious and rare.

Gluing each one in its place,
Like one giant puzzle that no one has done.
I hope that when it's all complete,
You won't leave me for something more fun.

Still cracked and patched,
The pieces are finally linked and bound.
You step back and beam happily
At the masterpiece you have found.

Yet in the chambers of my heart,
You know something isn't quite right.
That doesn't stop you from trying to fix it,
Working daily and all through each night.

As delicate Spring's first daisy,
My heart sputters slowly back to life.
Thanks to all you've done to help.
Relieving the pain and ending the strife.
