Pieces of the Railroad Track

by Crimsonxheart   May 30, 2008

I'm looking back at all the broken yesterdays
like you said never to do
I know looking back won't change anything
but it's my only link to you
Walking in your footsteps
crying in your smile
playing on the train tracks
I stop after a while
Now all grown up, I'm still playing
but now with only pieces
squeezing the cold unchanging metal in my hand
and thinking back to all the faces
The faces that once defined me
because I let them
But then I looked and you weren't there
the faces didn't matter anymore
Nothing mattered except finding you
and when I did
I saw you were playing with
pieces of the railroad track too
