My Dark, Lonely Hole of Death

As I walk into the cave, a ominous feeling comes over me. Dozens of passages lead off from the main chamber. Unsure of which passage to choose, I close my eyes and decide to let my feet lead the way.

Suddenly I am standing in a pool of water. As I look up, I feel I am in the passage way of a glorious castle. My attention is captured by crystals dangling from the high ceiling like delicious rock candy. I look around, the colorless walls make the high ceiling even more magnificent. Lizards dart about the floor of the cave, scurrying across my feet like cold slimy tongues. The icy drafts of air on my skin makes the hair on my neck stand. The smell of sulfur lingers about the narrow cave, Whistles flow throughout the air.

The atmosphere makes it feel like a horror movie. Quiet, cold, dark. I am afraid to go further, scared of what might happen. I walk a little further down the narrow passage way and hear the sound of water trickling in the distance. I think to myself, this must be just the beginning of my adventure, in this cold drafty cave. But to my surprise, I am wrong. The narrow passage comes to an nd. The only way out now is to turn around and head the other direction. The direction from which I came. As I turn back the other way, I hear a loud sound in the distance like someone firing a shotgun. I hear a crash near by. Afraid for my life, I run to the entry way of the long narrow passage. When I get there, I am even more terrified for my life. I see giant boulders, like houses blocking me in.

I am trapped. Trapped like an animal in a cold dark box. There is no way out. Minutes turn into hours. Silence turns into noise, a loud ringing in my ears. The movie of my life runs before my eyes, before darkness turns to light. Suddenly, I am free to fly above the cave. My dark, lonely hole of death.
