These numbers are confusing me

These words, I don't understand.

If I wasn't stuck here at school

I'd walk with you hand in hand.

I'd tell you how much I love you,

And deep inside I know,

If I wasn't so damn shy,

These feelings wouldn't hesitate to show.

I love the way you laugh and smile,

For you I'd run a thousand miles.

I thought I'd never love again,

That this could never happen...

But I was wrong, so here I stand

Hopefully you'll accept me for who I am.

I got this published in a book a few years ago.
