Playground Love

I was five yours old, and he was six.
He was swinging on the swings, when he sa me eating trix.
He walked up to me and asked, "Can I have some?"
This is where an amazing frienship had begun.
Every day during free time, he dared me to kiss him and ran if I tried.
Then one day I caught him, and spark flew during the closing of our eyes.
We began hanging out every day after.
Each of the days filled with joy and laughter.
Four years later, we were still bestfriends.
We promised to stay friends to the end.
Then one day he told me he was moving, and I cried.
On his last day near, I kissed him goodbye.
Five years went without talking, then I saw him today.
We recognized eachother but neither were sure what to say.
So with smiles on our faces, we walked on by.
But neither of us said even a simple "Hi."
That night I had a dream about my bestfriend.
A dream that made me realize we'd be friends to the end...
I was forty-five years old, and he was forty-six.
We were standing in the kitchen, watching our kids eat trix.
