Olissipo

by Luis Sousa   Jun 10, 2008

Skyscrapers blossom towards the sky,
Houses appear like little mushrooms.
A concrete jungle dancing high

New buildings everywhere!
A Lidl here,
A Chinese there
The citys identity fading in nowhere!...

There are no parking places,
But traffic jams
And dumb street racers!

Carjacking on the speedways,
Thieves and beggars on the corner.
Nothing is safe nowadays!

Forever lost is that glorious past,
Where the virtues as Honor were absolute
And held dear, as long as Truth.
Then, life was childhood; pure.
There was a tomorrow,
Not just an obscure;
Dark, path of sorrow.
Nothing can forever last.

However

Not everything is sad,
Were not like the Greeks,
No, we aint that bad.
Weve got what everybody seeks!

Our weather, so sunny; youll see!!
Our most praised bottled wine,
Our amazingly tasty patisserie
And our dames who are divine!
