The Last Stanza

I was the first person to look you in the eye
I saw them open, and started to cry
A warmth was born inside of me
As i wondered who you would grow to be

When your teeth decided to finally grow
They really hurt, yes, i know
I watched you cry, and saw you yelp
Holding your hand wishing i could help

I was there when you got your wish
It was on my pole that you caught your first fish
You held it up proud, as i felt the same way
I have always cherished that very fine day

Your science fair project sure outshined the rest
But more importantly, you did your best
Not all of the entrants get to win blue
But as long as you try hard, theres room for you to

Now your the last person to see my face
Right before i leave this place
Its my time to go, i have payed my dues
I leave the world, part of me, you

I love you and that will never change
This shall be my finest stage
You can cry, dont need to be tough
Times like these, will be rough
