DRINKING

by Mycquel   Jun 26, 2008

I just turned 21
You think this is when the fun begun
Drinking, partying and staying out for days
Thinking this is the time to hang out and play
Yet those days are behind me and I have a new motto
"You live today for a promising tomorrow"
My friends say I'm no fun
Just because I wont have a drink...not even one
Little do they know I've had my share of drinks
You get too drunk, pass out then awake to headaches
I even got behind the wheel of a car too drunk to drive
I turned it on then proceeded to turn the music up high
It was 4:00 in the morning no headlights insight
I heard a horn and tired not to crash with all my might
Yet out of no where I see a body in the air
I felt no pain, only fear
I tried to scream but no words would leave my tongue
At that moment I regretted all of the nights fun
I remembered shot after shot of too many different liquors
Soon I stepped back into reality and I seen lights flicker
I felt really cold and very shaken up...didn't know what to do
Have you ever looked down on a dead body and realize that the dead body was you?

DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE...THIS COULD BE YOU

Oh wow, this was an absolutely amazing poem. It brought tears to my eyes.

Only one suggestion - "parting" should be "partying" on the third line.

Otherwise, absolutely beautiful poem, very nicely written.
