The day we talked was the day
We said goodbye
Things would no longer be the same
Things just couldn't stay this way

We both noticed
But there was something I did not see
Although both hearts were broken
You never wanted to hurt me

I wanted to be distant
I wished to be in another place
I never wanted to hear those words
I couldn't bare the pain to look you in the face

With a hug goodbye
With words that could of lasted a while
You walked away that day
Trying to hold a smile

But if things were different
If our relationship was good
If i didn't mess up
Would we be together like we should?

Would we of been together longer?
Would we have liked each other more?
Ask me out to take a walk
and walk to me my door?

Maybe a beautiful date
You'd give me a ring
Soon to be married
Have kids, the whole thing!

Or it could of been simple
With a night of shared fun
It might of been love
You Could of been the one

Instead our loved changed
Because of some other girl
Going back to being strangers
Floating around in this world

It's strange to me
How my relationship could lay
On another person
Making such a beautiful thing go away
