Lifetime love

by Jenn   Jul 4, 2008

My heart is beating wildly
Bursting into an endless melody.
I'm standing here outside your window
Trying hard to let it show
But the night closes in around me
And I know that you can't see
The way a smile evades my face,
Whenever you come into play.
Or the way my heart skips a thousand beats
Whenever I hear the sound of your feet.
Or the way you make me shine so bright
That even the stars grow jealous in the night.
And as the sun shines above our heads,
I stumble for ink or lead.
To write the way I feel about you,
About a love between just two.
But you don't know this feeling,
Because you do not really know me.

You think I write for fun and games,
Which fills my beating heart with shame.
You think that just because I'm female,
I'll fall for any romantic male.
But I'm standing here outside your window
Actually letting my love show
And I know that you can see me
Because the stars have turned their backs on me.
So open your window and hear my song
Of a love that will last a lifetime long.
