Night

Night falls,
darkness creeps into my heart

heart races
unable to separate truth from lies
as Nightmares consume reality
and the soul cries

Blood churns
runs cold
as the secrets of the night unfold

Air thickens
shadows come to lfie
taking forms that torment the mind
filling it with anguish and strife

memory fades
as the body dies
drawing its last breaths
and undoing life's disguise

eyes open
shadows disappear
as they fade
so does my fear

hearts slows
reality fades back in
as I try to understand
this night that i can’t comprehend

dawn breaks
and chases night away
the shadows and nightmares are gone
but their memories stay

cock crows
as a sliver of light comes through the window in a tiny beam
I wonder if the night was real
or if it was all but a dream
