Driven by your heart

by Sarah Dawn   Jul 8, 2008

I am screaming, but you can't hear
My heart is tearing, but you don't care
The knife is cutting deeper, but you don't feel
Blood is flowing, but you won't look
I am crying, but you can't tell
My life is ending, but you don't know
The blood is stopping, but you don't see
My tears are drying, but you won't wait
My life is over, but yours is just begining
Just remember, the knife was driven by your own heart
Or lack of, I guess

I like how you start this poem. A great image of a person screaming, but their efforts going unnoticed. This of course is more profound than just a scream, it surely a metaphor for actions of, maybe neglect of some description, spaning over many months, perhaps even years? The action of negelct, of not listening doesn't go without effect. You vividly describe the crying out for attention, courtesy of a blade, driven by an unfeeling heart, perhaps? Great title!!

    Well done
