Chp. 41*****

????????????????????????????????????¢??Leighlah and I walked down to the pond I refuse to remember and I told her the tale of my????????????????????????????????????¢?????????????????????????????????????¦immortalitization. She loved it.
She was fascinated. She was the most perfect child ever to curse these cobble stone streets. I braided her hair and muddied her innocence while giving graphic details of my vindictive reign on this town. I told her about Paul, and though she was too young to be interested in him for the same reasons I was, the things he????????????????????????????????????¢??d done, both under my command and his own free will did not visibly bother her. This child was a gift form the Dark Heavens of Hell and I fell deep into affectionate love for her.????????????????????????????????????¢??

Chp. 42*****

????????????????????????????????????¢??Leighlah stayed with me there on the docks of the pond until well after dark. Marlene, a plump woman with silvery hair beneath her bonnet, scolded Leighlah when we arrived at the gates of the orphanage where she lived. She said goodnight to me right there in front of Marlene and the caretaker did nothing. I was amazed that she hadn????????????????????????????????????¢??t attempted to lock Leighlah away. After Leighlah went inside to bed and fell asleep I hovered in her window. Her angelic face was beautiful and pure; soft porcelain skin, framed by sandy-almost bronze- hair that curled around her ears and neck. Her cherry lips sat in a fine line, untroubled by nightmares. She was perfect.????????????????????????????????????¢??

Chp. 43*****

????????????????????????????????????¢??At dawn, Marlene shrieked, waking my little angel. She dropped the cauldron of oatmeal she stirred at once when she opened the door to the girls dormitory where Leighlah slept, finding a child????????????????????????????????????¢??s frightened face apart form its missing body, accompanied by a pair of bloody feet and small grimy hands, in a bed in the center of the room. There was a message carved with blood into the paint on the yellowing walls; ????????????????????????????????????¢??My little sister, so innocent, meet me on this morn, at the barn beyond the gallows, beyond the swamps. I wait for you there????????????????????????????????????¢??.????????????????????????????????????¢??

Chp. 44*****

????????????????????????????????????¢??I sat, croslegged, on the mossy ground halfway between the barn where the teenage couple had embraced and the murky creek where I sinned so often, a basket of bread perched in my skirted lap. She came to me with browning flowers, tied in a sloppy bouquet by a single violet ribbon. She kneeled facing me and we traded gifts. She was greatful for the bread, her face illuminated by the silence of her hunger as her small teeth sank into the bread. It reminded me of a wolf, slowly devouring a snow rabbit after a long starve, savoring the taste of fresh blood and muscle; purely instinctive.????????????????????????????????????¢??

Chp. 45*****

?????????????????????¢??We mulled over who would be next in line for my massacre, and she came up with something I would have never considered. Paul?????????????????????¢??s family was entirely extinct, with the single exception of his wealthy grandfather. Paul McElroy was in no need of the inheritance he would receive in the event of Thomas McElroy?????????????????????¢??s death, in fact he would hardly notice it. What he would notice, would be the absence of his only father figure.?????????????????????¢??

Chp. 46*****

??????????¢??The next morning I sent Paul on a child-molesting rampage. He was thrilled seeing how I had instructed him to leave plenty of children unharmed so that there would be some who remembered my legend clearly enough to instill fear in their children for generations to come. So I sought out the elderly McElroy, only to find him finishing up on some sweet innocent little girl. He liked children, did he? Why don??????????¢??t we find out what he thinks of dead eight year-olds.??????????¢??

Chp. 47*****

???¢??I approached the smug businessman from behind, just as he was buttoning his knickers. ???¢??Hello Thomas,???¢?? I whispered in a childish tone. He was frightened at first, but then he saw me as I intended for him to se me; a sultry, unmarried girl. ???¢??Don???¢??t you remember me, Thomas? I was eight when I was murdered???¢????¦by your dead daughter.???¢?? He seemed to recall me then. ???¢??I saw what you did to that poor little girl, Thomas. Not very chivalric of you,???¢?? I shrunk down into the eight year old I had once been, and always would be, ???¢??May I have a turn????¢?????¢??

Chp. 48*****

¢??I stripped down to my corset and slip before I rubbed up against him, like a kitten, loyal to the hand that feeds. Also like a kitten, I purred, as seductively as I could manage. His wilted body shriveled even more beneath mine. When satisfied with my work at distraction, I tied a noose and hung the body. I also cut off his genitals, leaving them buried in his mistress¢??s flower garden. Leighlah was brilliant to have gotten to him before I, weaken him. She was very good at pretending o be an small and foolish child. Thomas McElroy was the fool for not reading up on his victims.¢??

Chp. 49*****
â??Paul was very quick to accept the permanence and intensity of my authority after finding his dead grandfather hanging from the mantle, like a trophy. Leighlah enjoyed that, the thought of the past McElroy as an ornament for her triumph. When Leighlah wondered back to the orphanage, the braids swaying softly at her shoulders and a childlike grin on her tiny, porcelain face, I went and committed my self to sin all over again. I took Paul to bed, in his motherâ??s bedchamber for the second time.â??
