Night Rain

by John Long   Jul 10, 2008

Night rain on leaf
paternal maternal lullaby
steady soothing breathing. Life.

Night rain on harbours dark
and quiet now in their
strong shadows and
electric refelecting pools
Silent but galaxy deep.

Night rain as surreal road maps
on black trawler windows
lilting left, rolling right
like the uncle wedding tipsy.
In the midnight that knows no-one.

Such a wonderful effect the rain has on imagination and reality. You have woven an intriguing write once again. Beautiful work.

Wonderfully effective...I do love the rain....

    "Silent but galaxy deep."
Consider 'and' rather than 'but'....after all, the galaxy is silent 'and' deep.......'-)

    John,

You seem to have captured this magical, mystical feeling that flows from the rain that falls in the dark. I love to go for a walk when that happens. Due to the climate change it hardly ever rains here anymore, but when it does it is magical. The scent of the moist earth and the trees that come to life....
    Bravo on the poem!

    Take care,

    Ingrid
