Regret

by Brooke   Jul 14, 2008

She walked alone, wandering aimlessly through the night. The
familiar routine that had often consoled her mind had not
yet taken effect. As she stared up into the night sky, the
stars seemed to illuminate the ground around her in a
different manner. She took a deep breath in, taking in
the tranquil tone of the night. For a brief moment she had
forgotten about all the cares in the world. But then she
remembered. She shivered and hung her head low to the
ground. All the memories came back and overwhelmed her
thoughts. The happiness, the conflict, then pain. She held back the tears as regret stung her throat. It was impossible; she couldn't escape.
