Be strong girl

by Willow   Jul 16, 2008

Stick your chin out girl,
You have to be strong now.
Don't cry because you're frightened,
Don't listen to their words.

You have to look after your brothers,
They are only young you know.
You have to stop it from hurting them,
They are looking up to you.

Don't interrupt them,
Because it'll only make things worse.
Just hold your brothers close,
And ignore the words they curse.

Hold your head high when they walk past,
Show them that you're stronger than they think.
Force back the tears when they smile at you,
Let them think that everything is alright.

Hold all the pain they cause inside,
Carry it within your broken heart.
Make your brothers smile,
Because they don't deserve to fall apart.

I love this poem. I can relate to this one too. I'm sorry you're hurting inside. I read the one about how your parents fight all the time, so I'll probably say something about that one in comment to this poem. But I admire how you take care of your siblings like that. A lot of teens wouldn't do that for their siblings. They'd just care for themselves. I also take care of my little sisters when my parents get that way. One has Down's Syndrome, so I'm grateful at that moment because she doesn't understand. But I won't cry in front of my sisters either. It gets so hard to hold that smile when you just want to break down and cry though. I'm sorry things are like that for you right now. Great poem. I hope things get better for you!
