Last Kiss

by Brittany   Jun 3, 2004

There she was beside him,
where she'd stay for hours.
Reading all the thoughtful cards,
looking at all the flowers.

Holding his hand,
praying he would make it through.
Singing sweet love songs,
was all that she could do.

She remembered back,
to the first time they'd met.
She looked over old letters,
that she had always kept.

She stroked his hair,
silence all around.
She put her hand upon his heart,
and a new peace there was found.

She looked at the bruises,
that were put upon his face.
She thought of all the kisses,
and the warmth of his embrace.

He had loved her for all time,
and he proved it in the end.
For he took that bullet for her,
his lover, his best friend.

The time was getting late,
and she could see it in his eyes.
She gave him one last kiss,
and whispered "I love you" as he died.
