It's been a while
since I thought about You.
Sometime you'd run through my mind...
Endlessly.
I'll never forget those nights we spent;
perfectly laying there in sight.

In the beginning we didn't know each other, not even a little.
We'd talk forever,
barely knowing you;
I felt as if I could believe in you.

You said "Good things come to those who wait."
Was that where we went wrong?
We moved too quick;
Got lost in the moment...
That we forgot reality?

I remember how it was

wrapping the blankets around my cold body.
The look you'd give me;
intent with your gaze.

You weren't shy about your feelings;
you always wanted the best for me.
I knew you were there to protect me;
Shielding me from pain and hurt.

You'd walk me to the bus;
& hold me silently.
Rock me back and Forth,
till it was finally time to Go.

You would hold my hand in the halls;
even when we belonged in different circles.
Every time I said goodbye,
I always smelt like you;
of that sweet, rough cologne.

Everything was going perfectly;
& it'd only been a few days.
You'd walk me to my classes,
showed me what it's like to be treated properly.

But in the end I questioned you;
Doubted you,
Because I thought it was too good to be true.
I betrayed you, and believed him.
& I never got to say sorry.

I didn't get to apologize;
for letting you down.
I chose him over you;
& I realized i was wrong.

Nobody ever believed in me;
Looked at me;
Treated me;
Like you did.

You were like a guardian angel
Standing up for me
I wanted to thank you;
because even though I realized we're not meant to be.
You showed me a piece of happiness;
Of caring and Loving.
I know what it's like to be treated Right;
& Now I won't settle for anything Less than what we Had.
