The Dance

by ScarlettaNoir   Jul 25, 2008

A night so dark, the moon so high
Shining on the shoreline, her spotlight
Rays of silver beam on her hair
Whipping like ribbons in the ocean air

Her feet pound the sand
Her arms reach to the flames
Before her, they rise, higher and higher
With every twirl, they dance along with her

She casts her eyes downward
As though to hide something
No one can see it
The reason she dances

The waves crash below her
The fire dances with her
A man asks another
"Why does she dance so?"

He stares with watchful eyes
Her movements never seem to notice
As he begins to leave
"She has no mask, so she dances her sorrow away..."

Eh, I don't know about this one. Does anyone like it?

Yes, I do like it! There's something about it that is very expressive. And it seems that you had some rhymes at the beginning, but none at the end--and that completely works because it gave it a different flow. I like it. 5/5
