The roses that tear

by chelsea dankert   Jul 31, 2008

Who would have thought
that rose pedals could tear
rip holes into our skin
loving us with cruel intent
cutting us with leaves
that brush like velvet
but leave us hurting
as though burning
silky and content
we flow with the blood
that will seal the skin
that the rose pedals
have willingly peeled.
