A promise's demise

by emo gurl   Jul 31, 2008

A promise's demise,
Should come at no surprise,
I told you the truth,
And so you spread the lies.

You promised to be loyal,
My friend throughout turmoil,
I relied upon you,
And so you pushed me to the soil.

When the promise ended,
I lost who I'd befriended,
Amidst the constant battle,
I was lost and undefended.

Knives of insults at my throat,
Pain without an antidote,
You drove my beaten head insane,
And said goodbye without a note.

Your words are poison in my head,
Flashing danger, flashing red,
The one wish on your mind tonight:
You truly wish that I was dead.

Your promise sounded like a song,
I never knew it would go wrong,
You left me so far behind,
So now where do I belong?

Your face is in the candlelight,
I remember how it felt so right,
You were there beside me,
Helping me to fight.

A promise always tends to fall,
Until there's nothing left at all,
You did this, my enemy,
I told you life was cruel.
