Indebted

by H E Losey   Aug 1, 2008

I have a debt that can't be paid
No matter how I try
It came with me so long ago
I'll keep it till I die

My mother suffered in my birth
My father by her side
A bouncing baby to them was born
To become these parent's pride

Through my childhood they protected me
They suffered to show the way
Through their wisdom and by example
They made me as I am today

For all their love and kindness
For every worry and each tear
Somehow I must repay them
But too little time is left I fear

I think that I have found a way
At least a way to start
Mom and Dad "Thank you"
For giving from your heart

That's really good. It's understandable and heart breaking.

The last stanza was just cute. :) This is a sweet poem I really loved how you told the story from birth and their suffering to make you who you are all the way to just finally thanking them. It was a great way to end the poem.

    Five out of five.

Wow. This is a very excellent poem. It shows what great of a person you really are. I loved how this poem was kind of a way of saying Thank You to your parents and how they have helped you in life and everything and how appreciative you are of them. This was a great write. 5/5.
