Somewhere a Clock is Ticking

by Viola   Aug 1, 2008

Wake up with the light of the sun
A new day has now begun
Breathe in the crisp morning air
This fine morning is oh so fair

See the world begin to move
Everyone has something to prove
A place to go, an errand to run
And maybe a little bit of fun

Take the train across the street
After you've gotten a bite to eat
Climbing elevators, stairs, and hills
Everyone does their morning drill

Arrive at work just in time
To make a days worth in dimes
Take a short break at noon
Eat while you listen to a pretty tune

And when work is said and done
Grab your coat and out you run
To pick up groceries or a gift
Or maybe give your friend a lift

Arrive home at last
And start getting ready for a blast
It's time for the night with a friend
A great big party to attend

So get all dolled up in the latest trend
Wear the pair of earrings she lend
Put on that smile you keep at the door
Come on, everyone expects more

Throw your troubles away
And hope the pain isn't here to stay
We all go through life till we come undone
But why get all caught up in that hun?

Because life is what we of make it
Take all those broken pieces and make them fit
Into something beautiful, something surreal
And you'll find life hasn't lost its appeal

Live, laugh, and love
What are you so afraid of?
We're here today, gone tomorrow
And there's no more time left to borrow

So watch the stars light up the sky
And don't ever wonder why
Just take what you have been given
And remember to never ever give in
